.......and I don't mean financially, the shop was back to back with customers who knew and love my work....

There was a constant flow, of customers who had returned to buy again, who were building their collections. Newly weds who earlier in the year I made their engagement ring, wedding rings and bridesmaid gifts, came in to purchase presents and tell me all about their wedding day and share pictures of the most important day of their lives, customers who have been buying and supporting me for 8 years, so many buying gifts and gift vouchers for their loved ones who they had introduced to my handmade jewellery.

There was a lovely story that one customer shared with me that recently, she attended a wedding abroad where she met two others guests from different parts of the uk, who she had never met before, but they were all wearing the jewellery I make, they each instantly recognised it on each other, she said instantly creating a bond between them.

A lovely customer bought her niece in to the shop, who was staying with her from up country to introduce her to my jewellery after she first discovered my work 3 years ago when I had a pop up shop in Totnes at Studio Nine , crazy to think I now have a permanent Jewellery shop in the same town. More wonderful customers visited throughout the day, a mum buying her daughter special symbolic piece of jewellery to mark an important time in her life, a Dad buying a gift to give from his young daughter to her mother, two separate customers unknowingly came in to buy a 50th birthday gift for the same person, who has already has a growing collection, they both went for different pieces, one from the Tekhenu collection and the other from the Frida collection.

So many beautiful stories and purchases, when I closed the door at the end of that autumnal Saturday I was so so overwhelmed, I sat and took a moment and became very teary, overcome with emotions. It was so humbling and I had a moment of reflection. I can't tell you how honoured I feel to make pieces that have such meaning and honoured that people share their precious stories with me. For the first time in my business I really felt like I made it, not financially but for the reasons I believed in, to make people smile, to create special moments in peoples lives, to make something sentimental and not a fast fashion item. To have connections with people, to have a community of like minded people who appreciate handmade instead of buying into companies that mass produce jewellery.
